Jonesboro City Stars of Parks and Recreation is offering area youths (formerly Little Indians) an opportunity to participate in tackle football. The league is being offered to boys in the 5th and 6th grades. Players will receive a complete uniform, with the exception of pads and footwear. Once the season is completed, player will be allowed to keep their jersey. |

The City of Jonesboro Parks and Recreation Department will hold a town hall meeting to present rough design concepts of a pool and water park in the Jonesboro area, and to obtain input from the community. The meeting will be held Thursday, August 7, at 6:00 pm at The Forum Theatre in downtown Jonesboro. |

Jonesboro City Stars of Parks and Recreation is offering a free soccer program to Jonesboro area youth ages 5-19. No fee will be charged for this league, registered participants will receive a complete uniform, along with shin guards; cleats and sneakers will not be provided. The only cost is commitment, hard work, determination and fun. |

 Today, over 200 runners, walkers and rollers gathered at the starting line at Craighead Forest Park-Access 6 for the 5K Freedom Run and Walk race. Participants from the state of Arkansas, Tennessee, Illinois, Virginia, and Missouri completed the course with a loop around the park. The winning time was a great 18:11, turned in by Joseph Pearce, 33 of Jonesboro, AR, in the women’s bracket Katie Helms, 30 of Fayetteville, AR posted 21:23, while Natalie Johnson-Leslie, 39 paced the walkers with a time of 37:32. |

XTERRA IRON WILL 2008 The XTERRA Iron Will is a challenging off-road course, taking the participant for a half-mile swim, 10.6 mile mountain bike, and 3.1 mile trail run.
